DAO VUONG TEXT

I came to UC Irvine in Fall of 1992 excited for a future. I had some setback but started April 1993, I worked for the School of Social Sciences Computing Support and started studying at School of Social Sciences; the rest is further history.

I am passionate about education and helping others. I am asking you all for a letter of recommendations in applying to several colleges and universities for 2018.

You all know I love to learn and work at the same time. I have a passion for help with computing and gadgets. That is essentially what I did for faculty at UC Irvine - School of Social Sciences. My research interest is understanding human conflict and how to resolve that conflict so that we can all work together for a better future. I tried to do that in UCI Social Sciences for the 23 years I was there.

I am applying for the Masters degree program at the "Chicago School of Psychology in Irvine for Industrial & Organizational Psychology", a two year program at UCI.

I am looking to advance my career by doing research on how to help single foreigners integrate into a working academic environment. You all known me to be uniquely interested in helping faculty researches and fields of studies. I am planning to create a website dedicated to the kinds of work and research that are done by UCI faculty, and enjoy reading in the Eastern "Dao Is The Way.com" approaches. These are among my academic passions for my UC Irvine scholarship and life.

Please help me with the letter of recommendation, you can send an email to Tey Ly at tly@thechicagoschool.edu, the deadline is November 11, 2017. I am sorry for the last minute notice, I have been dealing with PTSD from being terminated at UC Irvine for mental illness.

I am trying to get back to academic routine for January 2018 when the program starts. I will be continuing my study at UC Irvine in mathematics for the winter quarter of 2018.

Thank you in advance, please email back so that I know you've done so. After I finish an MA at the Chicago School of Psychology in Irvine I will also be applying for a Ph.D. program in the near future at UC Irvine for an interdisciplinary program in machine learning, AI, and the social effects they have on society.

Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Dao

Dear UC Irvine, California, United States, I exist and I did help Jeffrey A. Stern get a Ph.D at UC Irvine with Douglas R.White and Linton Freeman, at UC Irvine - School of Social Sciences Hello Doug,

  • Ffrom Jonathan Jon Nilsson As you know, Direct all requests to our helpdesk: sscs@uci.edu. Dao no longer works for Social Sciences. Please direct all requests to our helpdesk: sscs@uci.edu. I have cc'd our helpdesk email here.
  • The two red [ File:IMG_5376.jpg ] links indicate that the file named IMG_5376.jpg has not yet been uploaded. To upload a file, you must first click on the "Upload file" link in the Tools box on the left side of the wiki.
  • During the upload, you click the "Choose file" button, and then select the file from your computer. You then specify the "Destination filename" which can be the same or different from the original file. In this case, you should make the *Destination filename be "IMG_5376.jpg" so that the link on the Chris_White page will use it.
  • Please refer to this MediaWiki help page about how to use images if you need more assistance.

Hi Dao, dao.vuong@uci.edu Given that you're starting grad school (Jon Nilsson taking over) you might at some point want to use cross-cultural data (like SCCS) to do regression models and publish papers or articles that might get you a faculty or research job when you finish the PhD (or study one or more of these models for a seminar project).

Its easy to do these studies with the coded data for SCCS at dropboxusercontent.com/u/9256203/SCCScodebook.txt Then at http://intersci.ss.uci.edu/wiki/index.php/Main_Page http://socscicompute.ss.uci.edu/ has the link to

DEf01f Dow Eff, which when clicked allows an analysis of regression models (indep, dep vars, etc), without the need to buy a regression package.

The advantage here is that the Dow-Eff modeling for the SCCS datasets also controls for spatial relations of societies, common languages, and ecology having addition features lacking in regression packages and without the need to buy a regression package.

I used to teach undergrad classes using SCCS data for students to do regression modeling and student results are still posted at my wiki.

Fitz might be interested in this kind of modeling since you are housemates and he could probably learn some of these skills from you.

Hi Doug, Dao Vuong no longer at Soc Science,, Jon Nilsson, --- forget this: Francisco Lopez

This looks like a good option. We can talk more on Wednesday. Here is a rough / high level list of what I think Dao would need to know/learn:

  1. Learn how to operate, support, backup, troubleshoot, etc EC2 applications.
  2. Learn how to operate, support, backup, troubleshoot, etc CloudMan.
  3. Resolve/transition UCI Galaxy version instance setup/modifications into CloudMan’s Galaxy version.
    1. a) Learn how jobs are submitted to Comet. Eric can provide details for how this is done today.
  4. Bonus: Learn how to dynamically scale up/down depending on user demand/jobs.

Dao intersci

Doug: I checked intersciwiki --> http://socscicompute.ss.uci.edu/ --> without a user --> and anyone can use the software there, along with the dataset at http://eclectic.ss.uci.edu/~drwhite/courses/SCCCodes.htm (main page) --> to do cross-cultural analysis from those codes (SCCS), which is something that Fitz could use to do articles with your help (maybe expanding the explanations on the web site) and get a teaching job at one of the CSU or other campuses. My former grad student and TA Ren Feng, is now using in his teaching at his university in China.

You two could do some text that I could add to (intersciwiki --> http://socscicompute.ss.uci.edu/) for teaching as well as writing articles.

All the best, and best for the new year Setting up your own MediaWiki?
