[edit] Data and Maps in GE
[edit] Networks on GE
Am just beginning to investigate with the Google Earth Community (site) http://bbs.keyhole.com/entrance.php/ (where you can ask users and experts) who has thought about tools that would allow historical trade routes, treaty relations, etc., to be superimposed on the GE map and saved as My Places.kmz.
[edit] Spreadsheet data graphs on GE
GE Graphs for Google Earth - very useful, a new development (2007). Martin Doyle and Kristen Shorette will be especially interested in this.
[edit] Saving data
Back in March 2007 when Marti Doyle have his teleconference (streamed at http://eclectic.ss.uci.edu/~drwhite/center/cac.html#Doyle) we left some instructional links to solve Marti's problem of how to save My Places.kmz correctly. Having asked GE Community folks this question I got some responses

- P.S. "SAVE AS" is much more reliable than "Save".

Doug:
The trouble with "My Places" is that there can be many scattered around the hard drive, while only one is updated.
Marti should "add" a "folder" to his "My Places" list on the left panel of Google Earth. He should "name" that folder with his chosen title, say, "Marti's Folder". Then he should drag each of his placemarks into that folder. When they are all in there, then he should "right click" that "Marti's Folder" and drag down to "save as" and save it to disk as a KMZ.
He should distribute that folder to you and the classmates. When they each have it, they can just go to "file" in GE, drag down to "open" and it will upload into their GE "temporary places". It can then be dragged up into "My Places" for safe-keeping.
I cannot think of any reason this will not work, however, it would be best of everyone had the same version of Google Earth.
That will be $10,000. Cashier's check if you please!!

P.S. Marti can drag additional placemarks into his folder to update, or even change existing placemarks in there, but he will then have to re-save and re-distribute the whole folder.
