Dear Doug,

Thank you for your email.

As I am not the commissioning editor for the Companion, this is not my call to make. I have passed the updated number of figures on to my senior Editorial colleague, Tanya McMullin, and you should hear back from either of us soon to discuss this further.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. (1) Could you please also sign the agreement for 'History, Challenges & Enduring Problems of Cross-Cultural Research', for which you were also sent a reminder yesterday? (2) I will send out a reminder to you now via Adobe EchoSign. (3) both done.

With all best wishes,
Joe

Joe, could we please allow the larger number of figures and tables than contracted ? I think that would have a positive effect on subscribers!

Thanks, Doug

During my assessment I observed that the number of figures contracted is 50 but the total number of figures submitted is 84 along with 119 tables. Could you please let me know if any of these could afford to be cut from the content?

   Looking forward for your reply.

   Many thanks,
   Catherine

Ok. So are we organized to complete the book in full, with all the chapters received, the final chapter being Chapter 33?
   Thanks very much,
   Douglas White

Yes, we received Chapter 33. I believe Catherine Joseph, the Project Editor for the Companion, confirmed receipt on my behalf on the 11th April. Please see that email below:
       Dear Dr White,

       Thank you for your email.

I received chapter 33 from Joe and added it to the original manuscript. I have sent the complete manuscript to our technical team for initial assessment and then I will be assessing the content and preparing it for handover to the production. This process includes making sure that all elements of the manuscript are present and checking each chapter to ensure that there is no copyright material that hasn’t already been identified.

       Looking forward working with you.
       Many thanks,

Misc email

10 Apr 2017 09:00:14 Dear Doug,

Thank you for your email. I’m happy to see that the work is in good shape and coming along nicely.

I am confirming receipt of the 37 or so chapters, however, the submittal of the manuscript will be of most interest to your project editor.

Silvy is now on maternity leave following the birth of her child, and her titles have been passed over to Catherine Joseph, another very capable project editor, who I have CC’d into this email. She will now be your primary point of contact until the work is in production.

Please accept my apologise if you were never introduced to Catherine.

With all best wishes,

Joe

Dear Doug,

If this is regarding changes to the manuscript, then I would say so yes, otherwise it will hold up production of the book.

If authors are concerned about minor changes of phrase etc., our copyeditors will most likely pick up on these things. However, if the authors are very anxious to see their manuscripts again, you can circulate the proofs once you have them.

With all best wishes,

Joe

Dear Doug,

  • Let me first thank you for being so attentive to the concerns of this contributor.
  • Unfortunately, as set out in clause 3.1 of your Editor Agreement, it is the Editor’s responsibility to review the proofs. This means that Garry will not receive any proofs directly from Wiley. If Garry wishes to correct the proofs, it will be your responsibility to distribute these to him and to gather them in once he has made any corrections, for final transmittal to Wiley. Does that make sense?
  • If you would like to distribute proofs to all contributors, then we can arrange for you to receive the proofs as separate PDFs for each chapter to facilitate this.
  • Do please let me know if you have any questions.
  • With all best wishes,
  • Joe

Dear Joe,

It’s just always the case that when I go back and look at a manuscript after not seeing or thinking about it for a couple of weeks I see a word here or there that could have been different or a short phrase that might have been better constructed. This is not crucial and I would not change the meaning anywhere. My guess is that your copyeditors will do the job better than I could have, in any case. It was just a thought in case production had not advanced as far as you indicate. So, please move on as planned.

Thanks for the clarification.

Regards,

Garry

Doug,

I've corresponded with Joe White regarding a revised, copy-edited copy of my paper. He indicates that it would be feasible for me to submit a copy-edited revision at this time, so I’ve done so and attached it to this email. The file shows the wording changes I’ve made. There are no substantive changes.

Dear Dwight, if I may,

I have spoken with Production and they advise that two options are available to you regarding the editing of proofs:

1. If there are very minor changes to be made, these can be done after proofreading.

2. If the changes are considerable then it can be done now.

If you would like to make changes now, I suggest that you get in touch with Douglas White as he will be the last person to have handled the draft. With all best wishes, Joe
