I am currently writing my dissertation which focuses on the processes leading a guerrilla movement to transform into new entities. These new entities include: political party; terrorist organization; and criminal organizations. This research contends the interaction between beliefs and associated frames, physical and human resources available, and political opportunities available to the guerrilla movement leads to these organizational changes.

Other research interest of mine include: the evolution of political systems in the Middle East and North Africa; the development of ethnic conflicts in North and Western Africa; and the role of affect in decision-making in U.S. foreign policy.
