[edit] Invitation

Julia M. Gelfan: I write you in my role as the Applied Sciences & Scholarly Communications Librarian at the UCI Libraries. For the second year, libraries around the world will be celebrating Open Access Day, but this year it will be extended for a full week, October 19-22, 2009. The UCI Libraries as part of its Scholarly Communications & Management Program (SCAMP) will have a campus-wide program on "Open Access: Successes with Different Disciplines" and I would like you to speak from the Social Sciences on something like, "How OA Has Matured - Reflections and Future Directions" and share your experiences with the journals, Structure and Dynamics, and World Cultures. There will be a panel with representation from the Physical Sciences, Medicine, and the Humanities. Each speaker will have 15 minutes and will also hopefully be able to respond to questions and participate in the discussion following all presentations.

[edit] Program

Wednesday, October 21 at 4-5:30 at the new Graduate Student Center in the Student Center. There will be an opportunity to for powerpoint if you choose, and we would like to podcast this event. A reception will follow the program.
