Outline 1st Draft Cross-Tab Paper
From InterSciWiki
same as: Rough Draft
First Draft of Term Paper - Suggested Outline - you do not need to use these specific headings but can modify them for your specific paper, your topics, or your argument
Introduction - Research Problem and Relevant Literature on the Topic
Hypotheses and Variables used to Test Hypotheses
- best to use MULTIPLE variables for each of two topics, best available
- Reliability and Recoding, if any
- Single factor, if any, and reliability
Tests of Hypotheses
- Significance
- Cramer's V (notlinear, categorical) versus Tau (Ordinal or Linear relation): if they are equal use tau. Assign tau sign as pps/negative correlation
- Cramer's V not meaningful if too many cells.
- if few cells and Cramer's V much larger in absolute value than tau-B this is evidence for a non-ordinal ("non-linearl") relationship
Percents
- Interpret by comparison of row OR column percentages, NOT both OR TOTAL
Cross-Tabulations with correlations and statistical significance (and relevant percentages for key cross-tabulations)
- Replication using different measures
- IF USEFUL: Replication by Region (V200) of key cross-tabulations
Importance of the Research Findings
