Short Bio

Haiko Lietz
I’m a sociologist and science reporter based in Mittweida, Germany. I've got a diploma in media technology and journalism from Mittweida University of Applied Sciences (2002) and an M.A. in sociology from Columbia University (2007). I'm currently a Ph.D. candidate in sociology at the University of Duisburg-Essen. My research interests are applications of Harrison White's Identity and Control, complex systems, and network analysis and visualization. In my dissertation "Self-similarity as an ordering principle in complex social systems" I try to bring together Identity and Control and complexity theory. As a science reporter I specialize in reporting the new science of complexity and applying network analysis for reporting.

I am an associate lecturer at Mittweida University in Social Network Analysis, Network Theory, and Computer-Assisted Reporting since 2004.
